The Creative Source

If any of you are required to create, using words as in this case, you are familiar with writer’s block. What is it that frustrates the creative process and interrupts a well-crafted masterpiece? A masterpiece? Perhaps that is a stretch, but I would argue that any created outlet, when inspired by a divine impulse, is on the path to becoming a masterpiece.

Inspiration vs Obligation

Back to writer’s block. What is that contributes to that creative lock-up? It struck me this morning as I considered crafting a post. It was an obligation. This sense of having to maintain a cadence of content to fulfill one part of the mission of The Greater Glory Co., I must create and share, create, and share…

Once the obligation trap was exposed as a striving self-driven trip – the inspiration began to flow. The inspiration sparked a creative impulse and here you are! What about the source of inspiration, where did that originate and why did obligation stifle it?

In many instances when I hit a wall, at work, at home, in life, it is usually because I am simply looking out for my own self-interests. Inspired creativity will suffer and so will our joy in living life, we will begin to fill our lives with the stuff that seemingly satisfies – a source of obligation.

The Source of Inspiration

As a follower of Jesus, born to eternal life, and indwelt with the Holy Spirit – the creator of all creation lives in my heart. That is an amazing reality and the source of all creative inspiration which is good. Since that is the case, why would I stumble and fumble with writer’s block of all things? Well, I, like most of my brothers and sisters in Christ, are learning to walk in harmony and communion in all facets of life with Him.

In this instance, I had to go through a challenge (as simple as it is/was – not life and death) that being a check on motives.

So What?

As The Greater Glory Co. grows and our ability to support ministries in the orphan care space we will have to remain in tight communion with the Holy Spirit. This is where the small lesson above will stand as a pillar, a reminder – of what drives us – inspired or obligated? We choose the inspired life!

Do you have a similar story that you can share to encourage others? We have a place for you to do just that here. Your testimony has the power of inspired creativity – why not release the masterpiece with others and help them taste in the joy of life in Christ.
